I — Professional judgement
A drawing does not make a building.
A specification does not make a building.
Somebody has to decide.
With incomplete information.
Under time. Under cost. Under risk.
That is professional judgement.
II — Evidence
Judgement alone is not enough.
A decision becomes defensible only when it can be shown.
Test data
What was tested, and under which conditions.
Certification
What the certification covers.
Approval
Who accepted it, and within which scope.
III — Provenance
Evidence without origin is only paperwork.
Provenance answers a harder question: where did this come from, and who stands behind it?
IV — Why we never see it
This work happens in emails.
In meetings. In spreadsheets.
In the minds of people who were there.
Too often, it becomes disconnected from the building.
Buildings are assembled from products.
They are created by decisions.
And decisions are what we trust.
